CIIP Seeks To Change The Agenda Following Last Week’s Storm

Insert your headline hereFOLLOWING THE REVELATIONS on this Blog, last week, that the Canvey Island Independent Party (CIIP) is being forced to manufacture its own Cyber-threads to imply resident support (in the same way that its ‘latest recruit,’ Colin Letchford, manufactured petitioners calling for an elected mayor) and that the CIIP led Canvey Island Town Council decided to replenish its own bank account with £2,580.50 of Veteran Charity funds, the CIIP is closely examining current resident unrest, regarding the removal of full-time firemen from Canvey, as a means of restoring their shredded popularity.

It is understood that column inches are already being reserved at the Echo to report this evening’s residents’ meeting – and provide an opportunity for Dave Blackwell and his chums to be seen giving their support. But it is not clear if the CIIP will be able to find any local traction for this issue – since it has nothing to do with Castle Point Borough, or Essex County Council. It is solely an operational decision by the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service in the light of government cuts.

It seems that Canvey Island Independent Party councillors, aptly assisted in their rear-guard action by island activist Tom Jea, have decided to ignore all last week’s issues - just as they ignore their duty when it comes to acting upon residents’ concerns.

Last week, the CIIP washed its hands over the Borough’s financial problems and, this week, while our local MP, Rebecca Harris, met with local fireman to get at the heart of the matter before her meeting with the County’s Chief Fire Officer this week, the Independents were apparently preparing to fuel island protests even before the result of that meeting is known.

They are now desperately seeking any local issue they can use to remove the spotlight from themselves before May’s local elections…
