DESPITE WASTING OVER 78% of islanders’ annual Town Council precept on overheads, Canvey Island Town Council is attempting to recruit another administrator at its spacious premises in Canvey High Street.
Mrs Elaine De Can replaced Bosmere’s John Burridge in October - after just six months in office. The post being advertised is for the assistant’s position that she originally held.
The Town Council is casting its net as wide as possible in its search for someone capable of putting-up with Dave Blackwell and his Canvey Island Independent Party’s financial incompetence. Unusually, for such a post, there is no requirement upon applicants to have any formal qualifications; or any experience of Local Government.
The position would suit a prospective Town Council candidate – particularly since the post is being advertised for a period of six-months, taking us up to the local Town Council elections in May.
The post is advertised as follows:-
A new post has become available for a capable administrator to assist the Town Clerk in carrying out the many and varied functions and duties of the Council.
The post will be based at the Council’s premises in the High Street, Canvey Island and the successful applicant will play a major role in supporting the Clerk in managing a number of projects and the administration of the office.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a sound administrative background, must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office packages and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The hours of work will ordinarily be 9am – 2.30pm, Monday – Friday but may include an occasional requirement to attend evening meetings or weekend events.
Salary SCP 15 -17 £16,054 - £16,830 per annum pro. rata
